700 RF Terminal & Base Station

The Worth Data 700 RF Terminal System offers unprecedented performance while still holding claim to the easiest-to-implement of any terminal system in the industry. This system is the 2nd generation of Worth Data RF Terminals and maintains complete software compatibility with older Worth Data Terminals*, while extending range, battery life, and number of terminals per base station. There are 2 models offered, the T701 RF Terminal with no scanner and the LT701 RF Terminal with integrated laser scanner for one-handed scanning. The 700 Series RF Terminals are low cost, easy-to-use, radio frequency interactive terminals that communicate with PCs (or any computer) by serial port.

*software compatible, but you cannot mix T70 hardware with T700 hardware.

Rarely do you see small size, long battery life, and long range in the same terminal; but that is exactly what this terminal has. It is truly unmatched. Our engineers worked long and hard to create a superior product. Long range means less installation cost in wiring and access points. One base station can support 64 Terminals and can cover almost all locations, eliminating the need for additional wiring and access points.

Approved for use in USA, Canada, and now Australia.

Since there is no program on the Terminal to write, and since a host program in any language can totally control the Terminal, programming time and costs are significantly less than with competitive terminals. The Terminal's price is also very competitive.

As enterprise mobility becomes increasingly important, Worth Data is committed to providing solutions for the small business owner as well as corporate entities. Our solutions are easy to implement, getting you connected faster!

The 701 RF Terminal now includes our new KwikCount RF add-in for Excel! This add-in gives you a simple, interactive program development tool using Excel; right out of the box - no programming knowledge needed! If you can use Excel, then you can use KwikCount RF to develop interactive real-time applications which use an Excel data base - including inventory, shipping, and receiving applications! Many applications include an import/export feature for Excel - allowing you to export your application's data, use KwikCount RF to update the data base on-line, and then import the updated data back into your application - all with NO programming knowledge required! This is perfect for inventory, shipping, receiving and even shelf price verification! Not only can you collect data, but you can display data from the Excel data base to help the user make decisions based on the data in the computer files.

  700 RF Terminal Details

Small but Powerful
Despite its small size and weight (less than 14 ounces with integrated laser and batteries), this unit with the standard antenna can cover over a 1,000,000 square feet of open warehouse space and has a 3000 ft. range!

Simple Operation
Each scan and each time you press the Enter key, data is transmitted to the host. The host sends prompts back to the display and can trigger voice message broadcast. Backlit display is now standard!

Fast Internal Battery Charging
With our new fast internal battery charging feature, you can have a full charge in 2-3 hours or less (depends upon the capacity of the battery)! "Intelligent" charging replenishes only the power used - no need to fully discharge batteries or wait through a full charging cycle for partially used batteries!

Lowest Cost Available
A starter system of one LT701 terminal and one base station is just $2340. Additional terminals are inexpensive. Up to 64 Terminals to one Base Station are easily supported with little or no contention.

You can start small, develop your applications, and then expand at a low incremental cost. Unsurpassed performance at the lowest price- unbeatable value!!

Serial Compatibility
For users who have software written for the older 70 Series RF Terminals, the Base Station maintains the same serial interface. Extensive tools and demonstrations are available including demos in VB, Access, and Delphi - plus complete Active X components. We even supply demo programs written in GW BASIC; it's that simple.

If you need additional coverage, Relay Stations can be added.

Easiest to Implement
There is no programming on the terminal. All programming is on the host computer in the language of your choice. Your only requirement is to send commands out the serial port . Any platform and any language can literally make the terminal sing. Whether you write simple serial port command strings or you use our supplied Active X components with Windows, we make it easy for you. There's only one program to write and maintain. No development package is necessary to buy. All you need is supplied with the purchase of a Base Station. It's the perfect product for developers who wish to distribute systems to remote locations. Since the new B551 Base Station uses the same serial interface as before, all programming done for the previous generation RF Terminal system will work with the new system.

Controlling the RF Terminal
A user program does not run on the RF Terminal. There are three levels of host computer programming support provided for the RF Terminal:

Low Level Programming strings sent to the serial port is the most basic method of programming which applies to any language and any platform which can read and write to a serial port. (For Windows users there is a free DLL provided to simplify the serial commands). Click here for details on Low Level Programming.

ActiveX support is also provided which provides the overall structure and all routines which when completed, result in a running application. It is compatible with Visual Basic, Visual C++, Delphi, and most other Windows 32 bit development platforms. Click here to download the PromptCOM ActiveX pdf programming guide .

TCP/IP support allows the operation of terminals across a TCP/IP network connection. This configuration requires a "client" computer and a "server" computer. It is compatible with Visual Basic, Visual C++, Delphi, and most other 32-bit development platforms. Click here to download the "PrompNET TCP/IP Active X pdf programming guide.

Again, there is no programming necessary on the RF Terminal itself. All programming is on the host computer and can be in VB, Access, C, Basic, etc. Any platform and any language that can read/write to a serial port can be used.

For complete programming information visit our RF Programming Page or download the RF programming guide in pdf format now.

KwikCount/RF for Excel®new
Based on our popular KwikCount/EX for the TriCoder, our new Kwikcount/RF add in gives you a simple inventory application with no programming needed! If you can use Excel®, then you can create a real-time inventory or data collection application for your 701 RF Terminal. KwikCount/RF ships for free with every 701 RF Terminal!

Portable Printer Support
The RF Terminal supports the easy-to-use Zebra QL320 Portable Printer and the Cameo 2 receipt printer with built in Magstripe.

The QL320 shown left is a label or receipt printer only. It is available in a 3" size. This lightweight, ergonomically-designed portable printer is and excellent choice for retail Price Marking / Shelf Labeling as well as carton labeling, work-in-progress, and other inventory and healthcare related applications.

Label design software is included with each printer. Label formats can then be downloaded to the RF Terminal from your host program, inputting variable label information as the user is operating the Terminal and printer. Using standard RF Terminal programming, the host computer simply sends printer command sequences to the RF Terminal. These printers greatly increase the functionality of the RF Terminal. See below for pricing and details.

Voice Messages
In addition to the display prompts and error messages, the RF Terminal has the ability to audibly prompt and advise the operator with pre-recorded prompts and error advisories triggered by the host program. Voice messages are particularly helpful in poorly lit areas, cold environments, non-English speaking cultures, and keyless applications (faster scanning without having to refer to the display).

Extending Range with Relay Station
Relay Stations give even greater coverage and overcome steel structured wall limitations of separate rooms. Relays are connected by 422 cable to the Base Station. The Base station B551 can be converted to operate as a relay with a simple jumper change.

External Range Antennas
The external range antennas, the Omni and the Patch, are best used as an external, outdoor antenna. External extended range antennas are available for "line-of-sight" and outdoor applications such as outdoor storage yards, nursery's, etc. If you need additional coverage between buildings or indoors, a Relay is the better choice.

The Omni Antenna is a 6 foot tall, 360° pole-type antenna offering coverage up to 3 miles. Attachment to the base is via 10 ft. coaxial cable.

The Patch Antenna is a unidirectional box-type antenna and can provide coverage up to 2 miles in one direction. Attachment to the base is via 10 ft. coaxial cable.
